Alan Langridge

BA (Hons) Music, ARCO


  Alan is an experienced freelance organist and choir director, playing the organ and directing choirs for Sunday church services, funerals, weddings, and other celebrations.


Alan read music at the University of Leeds where he studied organ and harpsichord with Peter Seymour and performance studies with Graham Barber. Alan holds the prestigious ARCO diploma (professional accreditation) from The Royal College of Organists.


Alan's subsequent organ teachers have been Anne Marsden Thomas, Marilyn Harper and Peter Westerbrink. 


Alan has extensive experience over many years of working with a variety of religious denominations including Anglican (Church of England), Roman Catholic and Free Churches. He was resident Organist and Director of Music at St Luke's Woodside South Norwood, St Augustine's Wrangthorn Leeds, St Mark's Woodhouse Leeds and All Hallows’ Hyde Park Leeds, and later occasional Organist at St Chad's South Norwood and occasional Organist and Choir Director at St Mark's South Norwood.


Away from the organ bench, Alan studied for the chartered public sector accountancy qualification, eventually becoming Assistant Director of Finance for Environment, Culture and Sport for a large London authority. He retired a few years ago.
